Looking for ways to beat the summer heat? From pools, to splash pads to aquatic centers, the Rio Rancho area has several great spots for everyone to stay cool this summer. Mariposa residents enjoy two pools, but there are plenty of options whether you live in Mariposa or in another neighborhood in Rio Rancho or Albuquerque. Check out our seven favorites below.
1. Mariposa Indoor and Outdoor Pools
For Mariposa residents only, these pools provide a sense of “getting away from it all” that’s fun whether you’re age 6 or 60. Need swim lessons? They’re available for all ages. Or, you can simply float around and converse with friends! There’s no better way to melt the stress away. Mariposa residents enjoy both an indoor pool with lap lanes and an outdoor resort-style pool.
The Rio Rancho Aquatic Center features three separate pools, all designed for specific needs. The Cabezon Pool includes lanes for lap swimming, while the Haynes Pool and Rainbow Pool have features for open and recreational swimming with slides and basketball hoops made for children and families. Rio Rancho Aquatic Center also offers swim lessons and classes for everyone ages six months and older.
3. A Park Above
A Park Above was created as an inclusive way for all children to play together. The park features a splash pad area with fountains for cooling off during the summer heat. Aside from the splash pad, the park also has a playground with special safe surfacing, shade structures and much more.
West Mesa Aquatic Center in Northwest Albuquerque was designed to have something for everyone. The center features indoor and outdoor pools both with exciting waterslides great for birthday parties and everyday use. The indoor pool is also handicap accessible.
