Artists of Mariposa
Art for Art’s Sake. That’s the motto of The Artists of Mariposa (AoM), a group of professional artists who live in the Mariposa neighborhood of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Artist Pamela Troutman said the group was founded in 2017 to bring together, showcase, and share the amazing talent in the community.
“We welcome all mediums and skill levels,” Troutman said. “AoM shows are planned for twice a year. Meetings are monthly.”
The group’s vision is to inspire, support and share the love of art in all mediums while mentoring and enjoying each other’s art through a caring forum of growth, opportunities and collegiality.
They accomplish those goals through exhibits, studio tours, guest speakers, artist meet-ups and social media posts on @AoMRioRanchoNM.
The group’s artists create original art through a variety of techniques, including paintings, ceramics, pastels, jewelry, metal art, drawings, fiber art, mixed media and more. The creations are endless, including hand-painted bird ornaments, copper-accented coat rack mirrors, woven necklaces, glass plaques and so much more.
Mark your calendar to support these local artists who have two shows scheduled for 2023: Aug. 26 and Oct. 21. The October show will be part of the large community Harvest Festival with many vendors, food and fun activities.
A wide variety of art is showcased during the shows, with the option to view or purchase original pieces. It’s also a unique opportunity for one-on-one discussion with local artists about signature pieces, their inspiration, or future commissioned pieces for the home or office.
