Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and here’s a little motherly advice – be sure to plan early to celebrate this special day! But don’t worry, no matter how you like to show your love, we have a list of diverse Mother’s Day activities in the Albuquerque area sure to please any mom, grandma or loving female-figure you’d like to praise. From wild animals to wine, blossoms to brunch, this range of suggested activities near Mariposa in Rio Rancho are sure to make those you commemorate feel appreciated and loved.

 

  1. A Toast to Mom

Raise your glass to mom at Gruet Winery with a Mother’s Day Brunch and Mimosa Bar! Brunch will be catered by Rio Rancho favorite, M’Tucci’s, and comes with a tableside mimosa bar and two glasses of Gruet sparkling wine. The menu includes; House Sourdough English Muffin, Smoked Salmon, Caper & Scallion Cream Cheese, Marinated Tomato, Served with Fruit, Mixed Berry Coffee Cake and Baby Yukon Gold Potatoes.

  1. A Spot for Tea

Treat mom to tea on her special day or anytime between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. that weekend at the Ivy Tea Room in Albuquerque.  With an afternoon tea that features Red Velvet Scones, cucumber sandwiches, a green chile chicken salad basket and much more, mom will feel like a queen.

Another option is The St. James Tearoom. The ‘Grande Dame of Albuquerque Tearooms’ according to the Albuquerque Journal, the St. James has been providing a fine dining experience for over 21 years, transporting guests to a realm of dining elegance, excellence, creativity, and imagination.

The May menu is set for a Royal Garden Party with Lemon Fluff Cake, Coronation Chicken Salad and an array of sweets and savories in between. Mother’s Day reservations are filled, but get started early with a mid-week reservation.

Closer to home, you can get a jump on festivities April 30 at the Cabezon Community Center. Enjoy time with mom at the Annual Mother’s Day Tea Party at Cabezon Community Center. Sip some tea, nibble a finger sandwich cookie, make a craft, and play bingo! It is a perfect day for mom and kids.
Each child and parent must register individually.

Celebrate Mom with the variety of ABQ Biopark Zoo mothers and their little wild ones. All moms will be celebrated during this special day whether they have toes, paws, hooves or claws. Enjoy music around every corner with the family as you learn more about how the animals raise their young at the Zoo. Grab a yummy snack from one of the zoo stands or enoy a picnic in the grass. What better way to celebrate than around the table when mom doesn’t have to cook or clean up.

No matter what time of day you want to gather the family, there are plenty of nearby choices.

 

You can do breakfast all day at Lily and Liam Bistro. This is a Rio Rancho hometown favorite, featuring healthy made-from-scratch dishes. From Panna Cotta Parfait, to Lily’s Egg Mimosa, Steak & Eggs Yorkies and Savory Dutch Babies you’ll leave with satisfied smiles.
