Education in the Rio Rancho area will look a bit different this school year, with information rapidly evolving based on New Mexico State Health Orders and New Mexico Public Education Department requirements. Schools are responding with flexible, modified instruction plans with the goal to keep both students and staff safe and healthy.
Below we have listed the latest information (as of July 16, 2020) from public and charter schools near Mariposa. Please keep in mind information can change daily, so please visit the individual websites for the most current updates.
Rio Rancho Public Schools
Rio Rancho Public Schools will be offering two options for families for the 2020-21 school year.
From the Rio Rancho Public Schools website:
Option 1: A blended/hybrid option where students in grades K-3 will attend school full-time on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and students in grades 4-12 will attend school two days a week with Group A attending on Monday and Tuesday and Group B attending on Thursday and Friday. Learning will continue online at home for the days students are not physically in class. Groups will be determined by last name. We will work with families who have more than one last name and with families that have more than one child in RRPS schools in an attempt to place all siblings on the same schedule where possible. All schools will be closed on Wednesdays for deep cleaning.
Option 2: A 100% virtual option. Students in grades K-12 will not attend school on campus, but will engage with teachers on a virtual platform full-time from home. Students in grades K-5 will utilize Google Classroom and other virtual applications, and students in grades 6-12 will utilize Edgenuity. RRPS has used Edgenuity at the Rio Rancho Cyber Academy for years, and students have produced successful results comparable to those attending our traditional format schools.
Regarding safety, a number of COVID Safe Practices will be put in place including the regular disinfecting of school sites and buses, social distancing measures including the spacing of desks, and entry protocols. All students and staff members will be required to wear masks and have their temperatures taken upon arrival at school. These measures and others will be detailed in the final reentry plan.

The Paradise Christian School Re-Entry Plan is dependent upon requirements mandated by State officials at the time of startup. PCS students will return to school on Friday, August 14, with an abbreviated schedule, COVID-19 testing, masks, 50 percent capacity and rigorous cleaning.
