Rio Rancho Recognized as one of the Most Livable Cities in the Country

It’s no secret to those of us who call Rio Rancho home, this is a community that captures the very essence of enchantment. Blessed with nearly 300 days of annual sunshine, expansive vistas, endless outdoor activities, top-rated schools and friendly neighbors, Rio Rancho has now been recognized as one of the most livable cities in America by LIvability.com.

Every year Livablity ranks cities based on nearly 100 data points taking into account measures of a city’s economy, housing and cost of living, amenities, transportation, environment, safety, education and health. And not surprisingly to New Mexicans Rio Rancho was a clear standout.

Editors were especially impressed with Rio Rancho’s parks and trails, noting we have more than 50 parks as well as miles of trails, including the Willow Creek Bosque which offers walking trails, dog-friendly areas and wildlife habitat viewing locations. And of course, Rio Rancho’s premier master-planned community, Mariposa, backs up to the 2,200-acre Mariposa Preserve, owned by The Albuquerque Academy, protected and used exclusively for recreational and educational purposes. It’s a completely preserved area available for exploration, providing solitude and stunning views of rolling high desert hills and the surrounding mountains.

Rio Rancho’s growing restaurant and brew-pub scene caught the attention of Livablity, with Piñon Coffee, Turtle Mountain Brewing and Hot Tamales getting special mention. And of course, from top-rated museums to professional soccer all the attractions of Albuquerque are just 30 minutes away.

Rio Rancho’s top-rated schools are a big draw for prospective residents. Rio Rancho High School, The Ask Academy and Cleveland High School are both noted for high math and reading proficiency testing scores. The University of New Mexico is in nearby Albuquerque and features top rated nuclear engineering, law, medial and anthropology programs.

Graduates will find high-paying in-demand jobs waiting in Rio Rancho; major industries include high-tech manufacturing, retail and health care. In fact, Lectrosonics, a company specializing in designing and manufacturing professional audio equipment for film, television and music industries, is headquartered in Rio Rancho.

With so much and more nestled in New Mexico’s high desert in the shadow of five mountain ranges, it really is no wonder Rio Rancho is winning praise from coast to coast.

Looking for a new home in New Mexico? Mariposa is a master-planned community 30 minutes north of Albuquerque in the appealing town of Rio Rancho. Near so much of what New Mexico offers, Mariposa is designed for living naturally.
