Top 5 Spots for Fourth of July In and Around Albuquerque
When you think about the Fourth of July you may think of freedom, family, friends, food and fireworks. Luckily, there are several places in and around Albuquerque and Rio Rancho that include all five for you to enjoy on Independence Day.
The Sky Room outdoor performance space and amphitheatre at Campus Park will play host to a July 4th celebration. Live music by the 44th Army Band and a special concert by the New Mexico Philharmonic.
When: July 4, 6-10 p.m.
Location: 2516 King Blvd. NE, Rio Rancho, about 7 miles from Mariposa
Cost: Those wishing to only view the fireworks and not wanting to attend the musical performances or visit Campus Park, there is ample parking available in the multiple lots surrounding City Center. Visitors may park in the lots and tailgate as they enjoy a dazzling fireworks display. Food trucks will be serving food and drinks at the event.
Balloon Fiesta Park, just about 15 minutes outside of Rio Rancho, will be hosting a Fourth of July party called “Freedom 4th.” This family friendly event features fireworks, food, local beer, and free activities for kids. Music by Shenandoah, a country music group with hits such as “Two Dozen Roses” and “Next to You, Next to Me.”
When: July 4, 3-10 p.m.

Cost: Parking at Balloon Fiesta Park is $10 per vehicle, Cash only.
If you want to celebrate America in arguably the most American way possible, then your best bet may be to celebrate with America’s favorite pastime. Albuquerque’s minor league baseball team, the Isotopes, will be playing against Space Cowboys on July 3 at 6:05 p.m. with seasonal fireworks. The ballpark will, of course, be stocked with food and drinks. Independence Day Celebration includes Early Gates at 4:30 p.m.

A little bit further away from Rio Rancho, the village of Los Lunas enjoys celebrating the Fourth of July, with festivities beginning at 4 p,m. at Los Lunas Sports Complex. The celebration features live music plus entertainment, food and activities for all ages.
When: July 4th
Location: Parade on Main St. at 9 a.m. and celebration at Los Lunas Sports Complex at 4 p.m., about 50 miles from Mariposa.
If you are interested in taking a small trip up north to Santa Fe, there are events all day. Beginning at 7 a.m. the Rotary Club of Santa Fe puts on “Pancakes at the Plaza.” This event features a variety of food booths including a pancake breakfast, plus a car, art and crafts show. Once you are finished at the plaza, just a few blocks away at the park will be more food trucks, live music, bounce houses and other activities for the whole family.
