Real estate investment and development company Mariposa East, LP, an affiliate of Harvard Investments, joined with Richmond American Homes, Price Land Development Group and Rio Rancho Mayor Greggory D. Hull for the official ground-breaking celebration of 174 new single-family homes in Rio Rancho on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. The new neighborhood, known as Seasons at Monarch, will be located within the Mariposa master-planned community in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, about 30 miles north of Albuquerque. The first significant project for Richmond in the Albuquerque area, Seasons at Monarch is expected to begin homes sales in 2023.
Richmond American Homes, a subsidiary of Denver-based MDC Holdings Inc., is ranked as the top homebuilder in the Denver area, according to the Denver Business Journal’s 2018 List of Denver-Area Homebuilders.
Tim Brislin, senior vice president for Mariposa East, LP., said the homes will provide local house hunters access to a broader range of home personalization options than many other builders offer.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for Mariposa to further enhance our community with a builder of this caliber and for New Mexico homebuyers to now have the option to choose Richmond American,” Brislin explained. “The long-term value of owning a new home built by Richmond American Homes in Rio Rancho’s premier master-planned community is incredible. The builder’s top-ranked construction reputation is well known, and their homes are in great demand.”
Single-story and two-story homes will be available within the Seasons at Monarch neighborhood with modern options for personalization available. Richmond American Homes homebuyers will meet with a professional design consultant to choose colors, textures, finishes and fixtures for their new home. This allows each new home to better reflect homeowners’ personal taste and lifestyle.
“We are beyond excited to work with Harvard Investments to expand our popular home offerings for buyers in Rio Rancho. The amenity-rich master-planned community of Mariposa was a natural choice for our entry into the Albuquerque market, and we look forward to serving homebuyers in the Land of Enchantment for many years to come,” said Dave Viger, Chief Operating Officer of Richmond American Homes.”
Residents will enjoy the location, with homes situated on 50 acres on the northeast end of Mariposa, offering more than 14 acres of open space, views of the Sandia Mountains and a new neighborhood park named Longwing Park. The park is anticipated to include a picnic ramada and grill, plus a shaded play structure, sandbox, a butterfly habitat with native plants, and a turf area for games and sports. Monarch residents will also have access to Mariposa’s existing pools, fitness center, parks and other community amenities.
Additionally, residents have direct access to the 2,200-acre Mariposa Preserve, a dedicated open space protected in perpetuity and used for recreational and educational purposes. The preserve offers more than 10 miles of trails and breathtaking views of the New Mexico high desert and surrounding mountain ranges.
Mariposa’s proximity to Rio Rancho’s top-ranked schools, healthcare facilities, community parks and more are also perks for homebuyers.
“I am very excited that Mariposa is continuing to grow, and that Rio Rancho is the first location in New Mexico where Richmond American Homes will build,” said Rio Rancho Mayor Greggory D. Hull. “With our City’s focus on great quality of life amenities, fiscal management, education, and healthcare, it is no surprise that Rio Rancho is consistently ranked as a great place to live for people at any life-stage.”
